Hi! My name is Cory Ortega. I am a full-stack web developer, and I'm very passionate and dedicated to my work. Through intense studying and hard work, I have acquired the skills and knowledge necessary to handle any web development project. I enjoy every step of the web development process, from crafting a pixel-perfect front-end to establishing and maintaining complex back-end API's.

DoggoBotto
DoggoBotto is my personal project that has been increasing in popularity. If you'll visit DoggoBotto's twitter page here, you'll notice it's a bot that posts both user and non-user submitted dog photos! It is completely self automated through the use of several API's, some of which are custom built while others are 3rd party such as AWS S3 and TheDogAPI. Some of my noteworthy achievements:
- Developed a Twitter bot using Node that is completely self automated and quickly approaching 1,000 followers
- Built a RDBMS using Node, Express, and Postgres in conjucture with AWS S3 for managing user submitted dog photos
- Created and manage a React website that allows users to submit their dog photos, as well as has an admin page that allows me to manage submissions

Sound Drip
A web application that makes music discovery fun and engaging by combining the power of Spotify's API with a data science model that accurately suggests songs based on what the user has already liked. This was a project that I worked on for an internship as a Full Stack Engineer. Some of my responsibilities included:
- Working closely with UI/UX team to develop a responsive front-end
- Managing state using Redux
- Integrating data from Spotify's API into a dynamic visualization chart, letting a user see the attributes of each song, not just hear them
- Completely overhauling, optimizing, and reorganizing existing code base to increase performance and scalability
- Working in tandem with the Datascience team to build an accurate and extensive machine learning mode

SubReddit Predictor
Website that uses a powerful prediction model. The purpose is to visit our site, type out a post, and then have the predictor return a list of the best places to post what the user has written. This was a 5 day build with a large team that included two iOS engineers, three data scientists, two machine learning engineers, three front-end engineers, and one Back-End Engineer which was my role. My responsibilities included:
- Working alongside the front-end team to deliver the endpoints they needed
- Designing the database schema that would be used to store user information
- Implementing an authentication system using JWT
- Writing clear documentation for the rest of my team to use
- Writing unit tests

My Top Nine
A social media platform that allows users to register an account and create a list of their top nine favorite things, as well as search for other users and view their favorites. This project was built in 5 days as a minimum viable product alongside one back-end engineer and three front-end engineers, myself included. My role was as the Senior React engineer. My responsibilities included:
- Managing state using Redux
- Developing a sleek UI that was simple and engaging
- Writing unit tests using Jest
- Working closely with back-end team to hook up API endpoints
